Disability Courses Face-To-Face & Online
What does this course involve?
This course is a nationally recognised qualification that covers both the theory and the practical components required to work with individuals who have a disability. Students are provided with the skills ad knowledge to carry our activities related to recreation, integration support, personal care and other activities of daily living.
To successfully achieve this qualification, students must complete at least 120 hours of work placement excluding lunch breaks, or work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.

The Australian Government is spending $42 billion on the National Disability Insurance Scheme, which is rolling out in Queensland during 2016. For this reason, there is an extremely high demand for workers skilled in the area of disability care.
This course is recommended for people with a caring and patient nature, who are seeking a rewarding career in caring for disabled individuals.
Carers can work full-time, part-time, or on a casual basis, making this an ideal job for all lifestyles. Further study opportunities include the CHC43015 Certificate IV in Disability.
Units of Competency
The full qualification requires the completion of 13 units of competency – a combination of compulsory core units and preselected elective units.

Delivery Options - Face-To-Face & Online
This course can be delivered face-to-face, by virtual classroom or entirely online. Please contact us for details specific to your preferred course dates and location.
Face-to-Face Day Classes
Our face-to-face training is conducted in a classroom environment, where our Trainers will take you through each course unit, using practical tools and real-life scenarios. You will receive paper-based books for each course unit that you will work through in class and a small amount of project work to complete at home. Your Trainers will be available for ongoing support during class and whilst undertaking your mandatory placement (see below).

Face-to-Face Night Classes
This is a more blended approach, where there is a small amount of pre-reading required before attending your face-to-face classes. Our Trainers will take you through each course unit, using practical tools and real-life scenarios. You will receive paper-based books for each course unit that you will work through in class and will be required to complete regular homework. Your Trainers will be available for ongoing support during class and whilst undertaking your mandatory placement (see below).

Virtual Classrooms
Our training via virtual classroom combines our face-to-face training with the comfort of your own home. Your Trainer will teach you ‘face-to-face’ via a video call where they will take a number of students through each course unit using practical tools and examples. This is conducted using the app Zoom which is accessible on both mobile and desktop and is very simple to use.
You will receive paper-based books for each course unit that you will work through at home whilst in the virtual classroom and in your own time. Your Trainers will be available for ongoing support online and whilst undertaking your mandatory placement (see below).
* Please note that in order to be fully competent and confident in the workplace, we require you to attend two full days of Manual Handling Training and two full role-play days in person at one of our training locations and that you complete 120 hours of work placement (excluding lunch breaks).

Online Study
Our online training allows you to complete the theory component of the course entirely online and in your own time. You will have access to a digital version of each course unit which you can work through at your own pace. Your Trainers will be available weekly for ongoing support online via webinars and personalised feedback and whilst undertaking your mandatory placement (see below). Online training enrolments are active for up to 12 months (including placement time).

Delivery Options - Locations
This course is delivered face-to-face. For information on face-to-face teaching, please contact us for details specific to your preferred course location.
Theory
You will receive one workbook folder at a time and then submit it once all the components are complete. Once marked, you will receive another folder to continue working on. There are two folders comprising of 13 units in total. The workbooks contain the information that you will need to answer the questions and complete your projects.
Practical
You will be required to complete at least 130 hours of unpaid work placement in a local aged care facility or community organisation. This is usually completed over a three to four week block, and work is limited from Monday to Friday. Shift work is common in aged care (morning or afternoon).
Mandatory in Class Days
Before going on placement, all students will need to have completed more than 80% of their course content, the Manual Handling Day/s, and as part of the high standards AustCare is known for.
Please allow 3-4 months for face-to-face and virtual courses, and up to 12 months for online courses.
Entry Requirements

- The ability to read, write and communicate in English proficiently (year 10 level or equivalent)
- Successful completion of a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) Assessment
- A Police Clearance with no criminal history in the last 10 years
- Physical ability to walk 8 kilometres on a daily basis
- Any pre-existing back injuries in the last five years must be disclosed
